l8er is a digital vault service that allows users to securely manage encryption keys for confidential information. Data encryption and decryption occur locally in the user's browser; the encrypted content never leaves the user's device. The service stores only the decryption key and associated metadata (e.g. release request timestamps, recipient contact references).

The user remains in full control of access and retains the right to revoke or delete stored information at any time.

Service Operation

While the l8er service is designed for high security and reliability, BrainBoutique Solutions GmbH provides no guarantee of uninterrupted availability, nor liability for data loss, delayed access, or failed notifications due to network or third-party service issues.

Users' Responsibility

All cryptographic material and keys remain under the control of the user. Users are responsible for ensuring that encryption passwords, links, and QR codes are not shared or lost inadvertently. The company assumes no liability for the improper handling, distribution, or disclosure of encrypted or decrypted information by users or recipients.

General Information

We process personal data strictly in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and German data protection laws. The minimal personal data we collect is necessary to provide, maintain, and secure the l8er service.

Data Collected

• Email address (for communication and notifications)
• Timestamp and metadata related to key custody and release requests
• Server logs (technical data such as IP address and user agent for security and error diagnostics)

Secret information (encrypted content) is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Monitoring and Error Tracking

We use Sentry (EU region) for technical monitoring and error diagnostics. Sentry may process pseudonymized technical data such as stack traces or request metadata. No user secrets or decrypted information are ever transmitted. Sentry operates under strict GDPR compliance.

Provider: Functional Software Inc., 45 Fremont Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. EU-hosted service data is stored and processed within the European Economic Area (EEA) according to Sentry.

Cookies

This service does not use cookies or any local storage beyond what is necessary for encryption and browser session state. No third-party tracking is integrated.

CDN

For performance reason, application code and APIs are delivered via Cloudflare CDN. Note that by design the encrypted data is not sent to the server and therefore also not passing through Cloudflare!

Data Retention and Deletion

Stored decryption keys and related metadata are automatically deleted when the user deletes a secret, revokes access, or after a defined retention period (e.g., 12 months after inactivity).

User Rights

Users have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data, as well as the right to restrict or object to processing. Please send inquiries to info@brainboutique.de.
